Du 18 au 28 octobre prochain, venez célébrer avec nous la 35e édition du Festival du nouveau cinéma. Pour cet anniversaire, le FNC honorera une fois de plus une programmation des plus riches, originales et diversifiées.

Fidèle à son mandat, le Festival se consacre depuis 1971 à la découverte et à la promotion de films de qualité du monde entier par un travail continu de sensibilisation et de présentation au public québécois, aux professionnels de tous horizons et aux nouvelles générations de cinéphiles.

Parmi les premiers titres annoncés, Congorama, de Philippe Falardeau, aura les honneurs de l’ouverture du 35e Festival du nouveau cinéma. Primés au festival de Cannes 2006, Le Vent se lève de Ken Loach, (Palme d’or), Volver de Pedro Almodovar (prix du scénario et prix d’interprétation féminine) agrémenteront la programmation. L’avant-première nord américaine de The Boss of it All de Lars von Trier, sera également un temps fort de cette édition 2006

Ce badge a pour vocation d’ouvrir l’horizon des jeunes de 15 à 20 ans sur un cinéma original, passionné et palpitant. Il permet à tout étudiant d’obtenir un billet à 9$ (au lieu de 12$) sur présentation de la carte étudiante.

Le billet à tarif spécial 5 avant 5
Ce billet est également une nouveauté 2006. Il donne pour 5$, l’accès aux séances de 9h, 11h, 13h et 15h. À toute heure de la journée, comment ne pas en profiter !?!

Le billet « groupe »
Il s’adresse aux groupes de 15 personnes et plus, il donne droit à un billet à 8$ pour partager le plaisir d’une séance de cinéma entre amis ou collègues.

Evénement !
Le samedi 21 octobre, à 19h, le 35e Festival du nouveau cinéma décernera le Grand Prix de l’Intercollégial 2006 à l’occasion d’une soirée spéciale au Musée Juste Pour Rire. Le FNC est fier de s’associer à ce grand rendez-vous annuel qui permet aux étudiants pré-universitaires en cinéma ou en communication de témoigner de l’excellence de leurs apprentissages auprès d’un vaste public. Le comité de programmation du Festival a effectué une sélection de 12 œuvres à travers les 44 productions soumises par les étudiants. Parmi les 12 œuvres sélectionnées et présentées, 3 lauréats seront primés par un jury mis en place spécialement pour cet événement, ainsi que par un vote du public.

Nous vous invitons chaleureusement à nous rejoindre au Musée Juste Pour Rire où de nombreuses soirées gratuites et en tous genres seront organisées ( I Pod video Battel, White Label TV : une soirée électronique délirante, etc). Le 35ème Festival du nouveau cinéma s’annonce plus que jamais comme une grande fête alors on compte sur vous pour la célébrer comme il se doit!

Participate in the 35th edition of The Festival du nouveau cinéma !

From the 18-28th of October come and celebrate the 35th anniversary of The Festival du nouveau cinéma .
This year- as in the past- we are proud to present an eclectic, original, and provocative selection of fiction documentary and short films from around the world.

Since 1971 the Festival du nouveau cinéma has remained faithful to its mandate, which is to discover and to make accessible, the best in what is new and fresh in the evolving scene of world cinema.

Congorama, by Philippe Falardeau among the first films selected by the programming team, will have the honor of opening the 35th Festival du Nouveau Cinéma. Two major prize winners at Cannes 2006,The Wind in the Barley by Ken Loach, (Palme d’or), and Volver by Pedro Almodovar (Best screenplay and best female actor) are major coups for the festival, as is the North American premiere of Lars von Trier’s The Boss of it All .

In this spirit one of the key focuses of our promotional efforts is CEGEP and University students in whose hearts and minds the future of cinema resides.

CEGEP and University Students, Professors, Members of Professional Associations, will all find an attractive discount on the regular price of festival tickets.

The 1520 Badge (Free)
A new initiative for 2006, this free badge allows anyone from 15 to 20 years of age to obtain tickets for festival screenings at $6 (half price)

Anyone with a student ID can purchase a ticket for $9 (instead of $12)

5 for 5 special rate ( for all films before 5PM)

Group rate
Designed to foster the pleasure of enjoying a film with a group of friends or associates, any group of 15 persons or more can obtain tickets for festival screenings for $8.

Special Event for Pre-University Students!
Saturday October 21 at 7 PM the 35th edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma will present the Grand Prize for Best Student Film 2006 at a special evening event to take place at the Just for Laughs Museum

The FNC is delighted to take part in this annual event which gives pre-university students in Cinema and Communications an occasion to toast the best student films of the year. The programming committee of the festival has selected 12 of the best of 44 films submitted this year. From these 12 works 3 will be awarded a prize determined by a special jury organized by the Festival as well as by popular vote.
To honor our 35th edition we have planned a series of free event/parties at the Just for Laughs museum. They showcase emerging technologies and new modes of distribution ( I Pod video Battle, White Label TV: an electronic party, etc) and just plain fun. More than ever this 35th edition of the Festival du nouveau cinema promises to be one big party. We are counting on you to celebrate with us like only Montrealers can!
